which has since been adopted in favour of other officers in Class 111 and later upon a different basis in favour of the Engineering Staff of the Public Works Department in this Colony.

A great hardship is inflicted upon the holder of the Post of Assistant Crown Soliciter under the old Scheme the Post being to all intents and purposes placed in a fourth class where the salary is small in comparison (3) The work involved is not only heavy and responsible,

needing special qualifications, but is such that it is quite impossible to take any Acting post in addition, which would thereby enable one to pick up some little increase of pay such as is done so easily by other Officers holding other Posts in Class 111,who are already receiving about £100 more pay per annum in the form of Duty Pay.

I respectfully ask that my request may be granted

I have the honour

to be Sir

Your most Obedient Servant,

Jane M. Hoopon
